How do I send a message to an inmate?

To send a private message to one inmate:

  1. Log in to your GettingOut account.
  2. Select the “Message” tab then click on “ Send new message.”

OR

To send a message to all the inmates in your Contact list:

  1. Log in to your GettingOut account.
  2. Select the “News” tab then click on “Post New Status.”

Note: Not all facilities have the Message feature. You must have a sufficient balance to send messages. Inmate must be a contact prior to messaging.

How do I upload a photo?

To upload a photo:

  1. Log in to your GettingOut account.
  2. Click the Photos tab.

  1. Click “Take New Photo” or “Upload New Photo” (you’ll be alerted if you don’t have enough funds).
  2. Take a photo with your webcam or select a photo from your computer by clicking “Choose File.”

  1. Give your photo a title and choose a gallery or create a gallery for your photo.

  1. Choose who can see your photo and click Share.
  2. Once your photo goes through the required approval process it will be shared.

How to Send a Message

This video will show you how to send a message.

  1. From your account, click on the Messages tab and then click Send New Message.
  2. Select your friend and start writing your message. Messages can be up to 500 characters long, including punctuation. There’s a helpful character countdown feature at the bottom of your drafted message.
  3. When you’re done, click the send button. Each message you send must be approved first before you can read it.

How To Add a Profile Photo

This video will show you how to add a profile picture.

  1. In the My Account tab, you can your set your profile picture.
  2. You have 2 options. Use your webcam to take a picture or upload one from your computer. Just choose the picture you want to upload.
  3. Next, you can use the slider to adjust the brightness of your picture. When you’re done, click OK.
  4. You can also crop your profile picture by clicking the plus button to zoom in and dragging to crop the final picture.
  5. Click OK to send your picture for approval.
  6. You can also choose to take a picture using your webcam as well.
  7. Once your photo has been approved, your profile will be updated.
